Coaching for advanced conductors: analysis, interpretation and conducting technique
Each active participant will have 75 minutes podium-time under instruction and guidance of Douglas Bostock.
Active participants must prepare the following 5 works:
– Ludwig van Beethoven – SYMPHONY n.1 op.21 mvt. 1 and 2, expositions only – Bärenreiter (orchestral score, available on IMSLP.org, edited by Del Mar)
– Charles Gounod – PETIT SYMPHONIE – ed.Costallat (available on IMSLP.org)
– Joseph Horovitz – FANTASIE ON A THEME OF COUPERIN – ed. Novello
– Kennet Hesketh – DANCERIES SET 1 – ed. Faber Music
– Toshio Mashima – LA DANSE DU PHENIX – ed. Bravo Music

A maximum of 10 active participants will be selected for the class. The number of passive participants is UNLIMITED

Application fee is 120€, once admitted to the masterclass, the entire fee must be sent.
If the application for active participation is not accepted and the applicant doesn’t wish to join as a passive participant the full application fee will be refunded within 10 days of the application deadline. Those accepted for active or passive participation must pay the remainder of the course fee within 10 days of the announcement of the participants.

Ensemble for the masterclass: ORCHESTRA FIATI DI VALLE CAMONICA
Founded in 2003, the Orchestra Fiati di Vallecamonica (OFVC) is one of the best windorchestras in Italy, composed by players of professional level, selected from the best musicians of the Brescia, Bergamo and Milano province. Among its members there are graduated and students from Darfo Boario Terme, Brescia, Bergamo and Milano Conservatories, and some amateur players coming from nearby bands music school.
During the 23 years of activity, the Orchestra reached important goals in Italy and Europe, taking part to important national and international festivals in Italy, Austria, the Nederlands and Switzerland. The orchestra also holds a yearly concert seasons all over Italy, always supported by excellent results as per of public and critic reviews. The Orchestra had three important results at the International Contest “Flicorno d’Oro” in Riva del Garda (Italy) where it earned a first place in the 1st Category (2007), a 2nd place in the Superior Category (2011) and a 1st prize in the Excellence category (2016). In 2012 it earned also the 1st place in the Excellence Category at the International Contest “Vallée d’Aoste” in St. Vincent (Italy). OFVC was selected in 2017 to play at the WASBE World Conference in Utrecht, second Italian band ever, and first after 16 years without Italian bands at the Conference, and 2016 IGEB international conference in Bern, first italian band ever.
The performing of several national and world premieres of original music for winds and percussions highlights the leading role assumed by the orchestra among the bands in Italy.
Several internationally renowned musicians have performed as guests with the Orchestra. Such artists include Diego Gatti (trombone), Devid Ceste (trombone/Euphonium), Mate Bekavac (clarinet), Steven Mead (euphonium), Øystein Baadsvik (tuba), Ronald Romm (trumpet), Giuliano Sommerhalder (trumpet, Rotterdam Phil), Stefan Schulz (Bass Trombone, Berliner Philarmoniker), Roberto Miele (Horn, LaScala theatre), Ronald Johnson(conductor), Douglas Bostock (conductor), Johan de Meij(composer/conductor), Andrea Morricone (composer).
Since its foundation the orchestra is conducted by Denis Salvini.
